Keeping the kids informed

Bicycle safety is of paramount importance in our community – particularly for our school age children. We are all aware of the benefits of bicycling: it is great exercise, it helps our environment, and it is fun!!. We should feel secure and confident in encouraging our children to get on their bikes and ride – both to school and for play.

Our staff has developed a “Smart Steps for Bicycle Safety” presentation and discussion dedicated to our school children grades three through six. The purpose of the talk is to teach children the basics of riding a bicycle safely and with confidence. The presentation is approximately 30 minutes with a question and answer period following. Topics covered include:
• Safe clothing
• Correct riding techniques
• Road signs
• Signaling
• Obstacles
This presentation has already been successfully offered at Laurel Glen Elementary School at the request of the school principal, Mr. Brian Mark.

To find out more information regarding the above children’s bicycle safety programs or to schedule an event, - please contact Lauren Franconi, Executive Director, at 661-321-9247.
