Bike Month Kickoff & Full Moon Bike Ride
Saturday, May 02 @ 4:30PM
We have two events prior to May's Full Moon Ride: The Blessing of the Bikes and the Bike Month Shindig.
The Blessing of the Bikes is back this year at St. Paul's Episcopal Church on 2216 17th Street (17th and B Street). The Reverend Deb will lead the ceremony. All religious affiliations (or lack thereof) are welcome. We will start at 4:30PM sharp, so please do not be late! The church is conveniently close to Beach Park.
The Bike Month Shindig is a casual get-together before the Full Moon Ride. We will have our tent, information booth, and corrals. This is a great opportunity for you to sign up or renew your membership, get more information about Bike Month events, and get to know some of the local bicyclists!
Rutz Acai & Cafe will be there to serve some refreshing Acai berry bowls. Proceeds will benefit Bike Bakersfield. The shindig begins at 6PM. The Full Moon Ride will begin at its regular time at 8PM. Come out and enjoy the day with us!
The casual group ride from Beach Park to the Marketplace at a pace of around 10-12 miles per hour. The ride out is organized and kept together as much as possible. Once at the Marketplace, riders enjoy the fountain and various vshops, then head home or back to the park in smaller, unsupported groups.
Lights, helmets and locks recommended. (Lights and reflectors for all, and helmets for those under 18 are required by the California Vehicle Code.)
Please note that our ride times have changed from 7PM to 8PM due to longer days.
Join the event and invite your friends on Facebook.
