Bike Bakersfield Bike Kitchen
Putting The Tools In Your Hands
As of Tuesday, March 17, 2015, the Bakersfield Bike Kitchen is closed until further notice. We apologize for the inconvenience and will resume operation hours as soon as we can. Thank you.
Bakersfield Bike Kitchen
Bike Bakersfield is a community resource and hub for bicycle repair. We operate a full-service repair shop, with a staff of talented mechanics, who are experienced in refurbishing a wide array of bicycles.
Our friendly and professional mechanics can help you learn how to get on your bicycle and do all the basic repairs to keep your bicycle riding efficiently. We offer bicycles to fit any budget and an assortment of new accessories so you can feel safe and comfortable while you are pedaling around. We have the best selection of refurbished bicycles, as-is bikes, and used parts in town.
Interested in working on your own bicycle? We lend out tools for use on-site, free of charge to members of Bike Bakersfield; all you need is proof of membership. If you are not a member we ask for a $2/hr donation. We offer bike stands, air pumps, tools, and a helping hand to help get you going again.
Recycle-A-Bicycle is a program that is aimed to get you on one of our used donated bicycles in exchange for 20 hours of volunteer service. Volunteers will be asked to help with day-to-day tasks from sweeping to tearing apart and rebuilding bicycles. You must first attend a volunteer orientation class in order to participate in the Recycle-a-Bicycle program. The volunteer orientation is scheduled on the first of each month at 3 PM, unless otherwise noted.
Drop-in Volunteers can stop by and help out at any time during business hours.
As a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, the proceeds from the sale of our new and used parts, bicycles, and professional repair services benefit our year-round bicycle education and outreach programs.

Arvin Bike Kitchen
Through the California Endowment, we were able to open a second bike kitchen in Arvin. Our goal is to engage and encourage the Arvin youth to become local advocates for their city. Even before it first opened in November 2013, there has been buzz about the kitchen, and we look forward to making great changes to help make Arvin a more bike-friendly community.
The Arvin bike kitchen offers the same services as its sister site. People can come to use the space and tools to work on their own bicycles, as well as learn the basics with the help of our bike mechanic.
